First, a long moment of silence for those who lost their lives in one of the most horrific school shootings in history. The Virginia Tech Massacre. May their souls rest in peace.
I myself am of Chinese decent, and was quite shocked to hear the news reporting the shooter as a Chinese student. It is shameful, and it made me tense. Then the US medias corrected their mistake, and said the killer was a South Korean, I'm not racist, but I was definitely more relieved... but also felt a little angry.
Why? The American government relies so heavily on China, yet, they pass on lies about China and just right away PRESUMES the shooter as a Chinese, they are so hostile towards China, and I'm mad because China (and the rest of the world even) could not/ did not do anything about this, or stand up to the US government's sins against humanity (Maybe a little to far? I don't think so). Of course, I decided to surf the web looking for other people's opinions upon this matter, and I'm surprised at how much hostility there is towards China even still. I don't understand...
I quote: "Why chinese media grabs and relishes this unimportant aspect is beyond me at present."
First of all, shut the FUCK up, you know nothing, so your opinions don't count. The western propaganda has worked its way into the media, the teachings, signs, attitudes, etc. The message is: China is a prominent evil waiting to attack. I'm surprised at how many people actually have a negative attitude towards China when they don't even know what China is like. Of course, we learn in history class at what propaganda is, and how they were used in the war and Communist China.
Now let me explain something to you:
propaganda, and Propaganda.
propaganda: the act of manipulating the masses discreetly, less noticeable, definitely very effective.
Propaganda: the act of manipulating the masses directly, posters, campaign, you name it...
Which is more evil? In my mind propaganda, because at least we know when Propaganda happens. What is definitely present in the Western world? mostly propaganda and sometimes Propaganda, What is used in China, mostly Propaganda, and sometimes propaganda. Know the difference, know how they relate to each other, know so you can tell when it happens.
Rewind to the shooting incident, the guy continued to say, Americans were definitely more politically correct, because their medias don't emphasize the shooter's nationality, what the FUCK is he smoking?
When the shooter was first thought to be Chinese, it was in the media EVERYWHERE. When they found out they were wrong, they didn't even apologize to their mistakes, and changed Chinese to South Korean unceremoniously.
I swear to you, if the shooter was Chinese there would have been an international outcry demanding the Chinese government's apology, plan to change, ETC! But South Korean is not as badly portrayed as the Chinese, so Americans continue to try and find more fault into the Chinese society, their media. "Why does the Chinese media emphasize the nationality so much, so much racism in China."
You may say, n0n4m3, this is just some random idiot from the US who knows diddly-squat, wears a "I'm a Dipshit" sweater everyday, smokes CrystalMeth, gets beat up everyday because he is a loser, and a poser. This is just one example of American STUPIDITY. What about the others.
I don't like to discriminate against Americans, I've met some very nice, very interesting Americans. I swear, those people's intents and attitudes are non-hostile, and most times even friendly. What can I say, the other population is just... well, dumb...
I just want everyone to realize that propaganda is happening, and it is against the Chinese government, be weary of what you read. This is why the Chinese media emphasizes the nationality so much, because they don't want even more anti-China western propaganda.
Yet, ironically, it happens, propaganda is so deeply rooted in the American Society that it passes on by itself.
I can't say anymore, I'm tired of arguing, propaganda is too strong, I feel drowned, brainwashed... ready to become one of its victims, but I can't be, and I won't be. I will be always fighting, and I'm sure the people visiting this website are intellectuals, and you too will fight against it.
Of course, before I go, I would like to say, I am truly and deeply sorry for the lives of all that is affected by this terrible, disgusting incident. Why a man decides to do such a thing, I will never understand, they just CANNOT be right in their minds.
Humbly Yours,
n0n4m3

strong post but the shooter was korean - -;
"this is just some random idiot from the US who knows diddly-squat, wears a "I'm a Dipshit" sweater everyday, smokes CrystalMeth, gets beat up everyday because he is a loser, and a poser."
what i know is this guy had lots of problems, whether personal or family related. by not talking about it to anyone and just keeping it to himself triggered his suicidal thoughts. personally i feel sorry for this guy to a certain extent but we must acknowledge that it was he himself who tried to solve all the problems, and failed because of it.
suicide was his only scapegoat
oh, no, you misunderstood, i never said the shooter was chinese
and that part
"this is just some random idiot from the US who knows diddly-squat, wears a "I'm a Dipshit" sweater everyday, smokes CrystalMeth, gets beat up everyday because he is a loser, and a poser."
was about the guy who wrote the crap on the internext
. fight on. yuxuan.
p.s. i wanted 2 say brother. but that sounded slightly ... odd xD~
In the aftermath of the shooting, details were sketchy at best. The fact that they said he was Chinese was becasue they honestly didn't know excatly which part of Asia he came from and China has the biggest population. Also, telling people to shut up adn that they're opinions don't count is not cool at all. You're talking about people being hostile towards China, what about your hostility towards someone whose views don't exactly line up with yours? Everyone (no matter how uninformed) is allowed to express their opinion so just chill. You say: "When the shooter was first thought to be Chinese, it was in the media EVERYWHERE. When they found out they were wrong, they didn't even apologize to their mistakes, and changed Chinese to South Korean unceremoniously."
The SHOOTING was in the news everywhere and along with it information all about the shooter they could get. And so what if they changed it unceremoniously? The whole thing was about all the innocent people who got killed, not about the guys country of origin. The shooter was also AMERICAN and his country of origin has nothing to do with the fact they killed a bunch of people and then himself. Why woudl they ask the government for an apology? They WOULDNT. You also say:"I just want everyone to realize that propaganda is happening, and it is against the Chinese government, be weary of what you read." Propaganda out there is about everyone adn everything, so don't think that its just about the chinese government.
Uhh.. might I ask who that was? Just wondering is all, I hate it when people I know put anonymous.. >.<
Now to answer you: It's true, China does have the highest population in Asia, but does that give a right to whoever is SUPPOSED to be writing the TRUTH to be taking an uneducated guess?
I never said people can't express their opinions but what if the opinion is BLATANTLY wrong? And in this case, the guy who I was talking about.
I'm guessing reading from your post, you are white, and have no experience of being an underdog, being a minority. I'm not being racist, but it's true. You have no experience of the feelings of unfamiliarity, fear, and loneliness of being in another country. Therefore, you don't understand how important that little "useless" piece of information may be. It gives us a sense of shame, and it gives you guys another reason to hate us. You may not be like the people I'm talking about, but because of this incident, many people became hateful towards the Koreans.
The country of origin of the killer was VERY important, because it is an image for a people.
For the propaganda bit, I never said propaganda wasn't about everything. Plus, I was making a stronger point, it would sound better than, "Most propaganda is against the Chinese government."
Those are my thoughts, you are free to comment on it.. if you ever read this that is..
