Questions About Life...

|
I'm not the best at putting down my thoughts into writing, or to express it in anyway in fact...

But, there were a couple of thoughts that had been in my mind for quite a long time... I'm just going to write it down, and everyone is free to discuss it in the forum...

*Ahem* Let me begin.

------

This all started one night when I laid in bed and started questioning life, death, and beyond death. I'm sure many of you have put much thought into this, but received no answers. The harder you pondered the question, the more confusing it became. What is life? What is the meaning of life? Why do we die? Is there a God? Is there a heaven? Will I make it to "heaven" even though I do not believe in God?

I wanted to see what the Christian answers to my problems were, so I picked up the bible, and started from the beginning, right at The Genesis, full of hope that maybe "God" would let whomever into heaven no matter what they believed.

How wrong I was indeed. The story of Noah's Ark gave no relief to this feeling. Flooding everyone because he believed no one worships Him anymore. That gave me no help... I continued reading, and the more I read, the more I realized, this "God" is not what he is all cracked up to be. I like Chinese mythology better (by the way, I'm reading the psalms right now).

I may have put the Book down, but my questions are still not close to being answered. Once or twice I thought I had come close, but later realized I was just dozing off to sleep. For a grade 8 speech, I chose the topic "The Meaning of Life." I tried to "research" something about it, what did the other people think? It became too deep to fully explain, so I had to completely B.S. the assignment and get a bad mark on it.

Then I thought about what if humans have researched something that, by the time I come close to dying, can use it and to live longer, or forever? Would I want something like that? All my cells will be dead or dying, I would be paralyzed, I would be sick of life, but still, would I be brave enough to embrace the concept of death?

If not, what are some ways of becoming immortal? Cloning yourself? I became enthralled by the idea by the idea of asexual reproduction, however sick that may sound... What are some other ways of becoming immortal? Something to make cells undergo mitosis with a renewed vigour? Something that can kill cancer cells, or make them beneficial? A couple of days ago at work I was vaccuming the store (vaccuming is the most boring job ever, so while I vaccumed, I pondered the question some more) and realized, cloning is not at all the answer. What you will get is an identical twin, and instead of calling it an identical twin, you call it a clone. If your twin lives, do you somehow live through your twin? I'm thinking not...

But the question jumped back at me again, do I want to become immortal? I realized that I do not. I want to know what becomes of the world, because of my curiosity; but the end will be too sad for me to handle.

So, is my life based on a destiny? Like a completed book, from cover to cover. Maybe it is filled with fantasy, comedy, fiction, reference, and maybe even romance. Last night, my dad told me of a man who used to live in the building across from his. This man died in a huge earthquake. However, the irony about this death was, he was the first to escape from his building, he was the healthiest, strongest man in the community, and no one else but he died from the earthquake in that community.

I'll give you a background story: In 1976, there was an earthquake in Tangshan, China. It is considered one of the most destructive earthquakes in Modern History of the World.

Wikipedia explains it better:

"The Tangshan earthquake (Chinese: 唐山大地震; pinyin: tángshān dà dìzhèn) of July 28, 1976 is one of the largest earthquakes to hit the modern world, in terms of the loss of life. The epicentre of the earthquake was near Tangshan in Hebei, China, an industrial city with approximately one million inhabitants. The earthquake left 242,419 people dead, according to official figures, though some sources offer much higher estimates. A further 164,581 people were recorded as being severely injured. The earthquake came in a series of events which shook China both literally and figuratively in 1976, which was later labeled a year of curse.

The earthquake hit in the early morning, at 03:42:53.8 local time (1976 July 28 19:42:53.8 UTC), and lasted for around 15 seconds. Many sources list it as 8.2 on the Richter scale, but Chinese Government's official sources state 7.8. It was followed by a major 7.1 magnitude aftershock some 15 hours later, increasing the death toll. It was the first earthquake in recent memory to score a direct hit on a major city.[1]"

-Wikimedia

My city is right beside this city if you look at the map, it is Tianjin:

It sent a shockwave through the city and leveled many buildings. The community my dad lived in were all buildings, but none of them collapsed, only some of the walls of the buildings crashed down. After the earthquake occurred, they found one person who lived there to be missing... they went everywhere looking for him, but after several days could not find him. One man picked up a rotting stench somewhere from under the rubble. So they flipped the rubble, and found that he was indeed under the rubble. They dug him out. Remember, this all happened during a HOT summer with temperatures going up to 30-40 degrees, and even more in humidity. It rained often, anndd... I do not think I need to explain more.

Turns out he only had one shoe on, and ran down as quickly as possible. Ironically enough, the building he lived in did not collapse, the walls did not even collapse. What killed him was the wall from the building next to him, it fell down, and fell on him. Remember, in a community of more than 20 households, only one person died, and he was the healthiest.

Sometimes, things happen, that no one would ever expect. These coincidences seem to be too unlikely to be JUST coincidences... This goes back to my original point, maybe our lives are controlled.

So that must mean, there is no meaning to life, there is an omnipotent figure controlling us.

But I am an athiest, and as an athiest I do not believe in this theory very much. I will always want a scientific truth to life... But maybe, this is why being an athiest so hard.

*Sigh* This entire article led me to nowhere, only back to where I started. Maybe life was never meant to be figured out, only to be accepted blindly...

"Reports of My Demise Have Been Greatly Exaggerated"

|
Boy, it has been a while. I've heard subversive mutterings about the demise of Asquaredx2, but believe me, I've been here, although I haven't been posting perhaps as much as I should have been. Allow me to elaborate.

This site is not at the top of my priorities. I am not making money from this site, and you, my viewers, are not paying to view this site (except perhaps for internet bills), and as such there are several items which I value more. In this case, it is ironic since I have two tests tomorrow. If you are completely blind, you would be unaware that there are other posters on this site, so this site can continue to be updated even if I'm not the one doing it. However, since this site is not (yet) presented in a manner which is discernible to the visually impaired, I don't know what you're doing on this site anyway.

Sometimes I just want to reads other people's input, but for those who suggest I retire: it's not going to happen, because I still enjoy doing this. At any rate, I have a head start because I've still done about 70% of the posting here anyway. Trust me. It's in the archives.

There have also been ongoings in my personal life, which is considerably more important to me at this point. For those who don't know, I've become a syndicated author, with my vast collection of children's stories as based off titles presented here.

Any treasury of my writings would include classics such as "Daddy Drinks Because You Cry", "Pop Goes The Hamster, and Other Great Microwave Games", "You Were An Accident", "Barney: The Prison Years", and "Curious George and the High-Voltage Fence". Here's and excerpt from the latter:

"...'Oh Noes!!!!1' cried the Man with the Yellow Hat as George's lifeless body crumpled to the sidewalk. He quickly put out the flames, ensuring that he shielded his eyes from the oncoming crows who had gathered to watch the spectacle and now were looking to feast on the remains..."

I have also starred as co-writer in "Curious George and The Ebola Virus" with Aidan Parchelo and "The Little Train Who Contracted Necrotizing Fasciitis" with Thomas MC (I've mispelled your last name to many times to attempt it now). And finally, my epic ballad, "The Fire Demon", also known as "The Secret Lost in The Water Which Happened to Be On Fire", is now a major motion picture with Paramount Pictures, and is nominated for seven Academy Awards, including Best Fire.

At any rate, this is perhaps an update as I am announcing one project that has finally been completed instead of our executives continuing their indecisive ways. If you are an original reader, you'd recall that this website has a habit of starting projects but never actually following them through (ie, the webcomic that only ever had one comic [glares at Aadam]).

In this case, however, our executives basically just decided to go for it and make a decision. As such, I am now announcing publicly the installation of a forum. "Why a forum? You already have a commenting function!"

There are a few advantages to the forum that our current commenting features just can't do. The forum allows you to interact with our material, but also express opinions, which is something I've kept in the back of my mind since the inception over one year ago. Also, it allows you to start threads, and basically talk about your issues instead of listening to me whine all day. However, if you are too lazy or too insecure to register for an account, then continue to use the commenting function. That's fine too.

This is the first step to bringing this website into the 21st Century (despite the fact that it started in the 21st Century). If you know me, I'm not exactly the 1337357 of people, so whenever I try to do the most basic HTML codes, I end up completely screwing up my template (except for bold or italic) . We (the LMOM team) are still looking for a new template, we're looking at new archiving methods, and Yuxuan has some plans that if I told you, I'd have to kill you.

At the very least, this represents a step in the right direction, and hopefully adds some form of reader involvement (which many people have approached me about). If you have any further suggestions, talk to me about it in the Forum.

And now for something that's extremely overdue,

~Asquaredx2

P.S. A post without a vid! ZOMFG lol th47 15 teh amazingzor lmao t0tally 4 f1r5t! Lol kk gtg bai

Too lazy to start my own post, but our forum is undergoing what many would call, "Open-Beta". It is not "officially" started yet, so, any suggestions to make it better is absolutely welcome. If you want to be a moderator, first read all the rules, do not break any, and start posting. Who knows... You might even be a global moderator...

Happy Chinese/Lunar New Year!

|
Man am I ever homesick. At this time of year in China, we get a month of break, AND we get to light fireworks...

I miss my relatives, and the general atmosphere. I like crowded places, it gives you a sense of anonymity. You also get a tonne of money, with seven or eight relatives, you can get up to $800. That's pretty insane...

to every Chinese, Oriental, Asian, or even Western people...

HAPPY CHINESE/LUNAR NEW YEAR!

May the year of the Pig bring you much joy and happiness in you lives.

By the way, Chinese New Year is about excitement, and almost chaotic... Last night, New Year's Eve, should have been a day of much noise, and rejoicing, but since it's against the law in Canada, they had to ruin the tradition for us...

Here's a video of fireworks from my home"town" or like a town of 3 million people:

That is all from civilians firing fireworks, none of it from the government. This mass firework shooting begins at midnight.

This video doesn't come close to how crazy it gets, but it at least shows a bit of it...

Want more information on Chinese/Lunar New Year/ Spring Festival? Here's some information from wikipedia:

The Lunar New Year, also celebrated by Koreans, Vietnamese, Mongolian, etc. for hundreds of years, is called Korean New Year, Vietnamese New Year, etc. by other peoples and known in Chinese as the Spring Festival (Simplified Chinese: 春节; Traditional Chinese: 春節; pinyin: Chūnjié) or the Lunar New Year (Simplified Chinese: 农历新年; Traditional Chinese: 農曆新年; pinyin: Nónglì xīnnián). It is the most important of the traditional Chinese holidays (The second most important one is the Moon Festival). The festival proper begins on the first day of the first lunar month (Chinese: 正月; pinyin: zhēng yuè) in the Chinese calendar and ends on the 15th; this day is called Lantern Festival (Simplified Chinese: 元宵节; Traditional Chinese: 元宵節; Mandarin Pinyin: yuánxiāojié; Min Nan pe̍h-ōe-jī: goân-siau-chiat). Lantern Festival is also known as the fifteenth night (Mandarin Chinese: 十五晚; pinyin: shíwǔwǎn or Min Nan Chinese: 十五暝; pe̍h-ōe-jī: cha̍p-gō·-mê).

Valentine's Day

|
I quote Jamie Gardiner, "I don't have a valentine's date because I didn't foreward a chain letter!!!!" Now, back to the theme...

As you all know it is Valentine's, and I believe today is a day of loving. Not only between couples, but for everything. You can express your love to a cup of coffee, because it made you more awake, you can express your love towards your parents... etc... etc... so there shouldn't be any people having the excuse of "not having a date." As long as you express your love, you are celebrating Valentine's day.

But of course... I started to wander, how did Valentine's day start? Who was Valentine?

Here's what I found:
"Saint Valentine's Day or Valentine's Day is on February 14. It is the traditional day on which lovers express their love for each other; sending Valentine's cards, candy, or donations to charities, often anonymously. It is very common to present flowers on Valentine's Day. The holiday is named after two men, both Christian martyrs named Valentine. The day became associated with romantic love in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished."
--wikimedia--

didn't tell me much... so I stopped searching... if you want to read more, here's the link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valentine's_Day

Alright,
I'm not the most exprienced with love, nor am I the most romantic; but I can say this, I love this site, and to every viewer, I love you! Now, if you want this love to spread, spread this url... tell as many people you know about this amazing website. Really, this is not for our gain, more for raising our efforts and enthusiasm to update this website. And please, just make a quick little comment to every update, it tells us there are viewers, and the viewers like the post. It can be as simple as "This sucks" but we know what you really mean...

if you did not like a post, express how you didn't like it
if you feel a post was offensive, express how it was offensive etc... etc...

We, the people from LMOM, is working hard to make this site better, we are in the process of getting a new template, we are also thinking of starting a forum... maybe even a radio show?

We want to know what you think about this... do us a favour and post a comment...

back to my usual vid dump:

The Month Of L-O-V-E

|

Well, we're finally into the yay! month of February, and so, for a limited time only, actually forget that last part I just said about it being a limited time, Ima post the Love Calculator, where you type in your name and someone elses, and it calculates the % of leurve you two are in. Wow that was a long sentence.

HERE it is!

Also, THIS is a game I love. It's called Line Rider, and it's really addicting so you should all watch out. You draw lines, then click play and watch the dude in a sled try to take on your line.. slope..

Also, in order to help you all out with your increasing amounts of homework, if you add smarterchild@hotmail.com to your msn contacts, the bot will help you if you type in homework, or you can play games too. But don't swear at it, or else it won't love you.

As part of the Jesus thing, I had, before I stopped playing for a bit, made new jokes on RO and ran around shouting them. They were..(BTW, French are replacing a different Race. I don't want to be racist or anything so I'm putting French.)
1. How many French does it take to screw in a lightbulb? None, the instructions are in English.
2. Why did the Frenchman cross the road? To teabag the chicken. (Only FPSers and RPGers will get this. Only ROers will get the reason for it.
3. What's the difference between a Frenchman and a rock? Rocks haven't surrendered to Germany. This one's actually meant to be for French. :D. I made it up just now.

Anyways, in the excitement of the Lovely Semi-Formal coming up and the exciting Winterlude, I am leaving with an exciting bye.

Bye.
